Indication

Antibiotic for bacterial infections

Ingredients

• Amoxicillin 250mg

Direction

Adults and children over 12 years: 250–500 mg every 8 hours (depending on severity). Children under 12 years: 25 mg/kg/day in 3 divided doses. Take with or without food. Complete the full prescribed course.

Side effects

• Common: nausea
• diarrhoea
• skin rash.
• Uncommon: vomiting
• urticaria.
• Rare: severe allergic reactions including anaphylaxis.
• Rare: pseudomembranous colitis.
• Rare: hepatotoxicity
• cholestatic jaundice.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to amoxicillin
• penicillins
• or cephalosporins.
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment.
• Prolonged use may cause superinfection (including oral/vaginal candidiasis).
• Avoid in patients with infectious mononucleosis (risk of rash).
• Keep out of reach of children.
