Indication
Alpha-chymotrypsin is a proteolytic enzyme used as an anti-inflammatory and anti-oedematous agent. It is indicated for the reduction of oedema, bruising and soft-tissue inflammation associated with trauma, surgery (including dental extractions), burns, and to liquefy tenacious secretions of the respiratory tract.
Ingredients
- Chymotrypsine (Alphachymotrypsine) 21 microkatals
Direction
Adults: 2 tablets, 3 to 4 times a day, taken orally. For sublingual administration: 4 to 6 tablets a day, divided into several doses (the tablet is left to dissolve under the tongue). Use as directed by the physician. Treatment duration is usually short (a few days).
Side effects
- Mild gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea
- heartburn
- diarrhoea
- flatulence)
- Changes in consistency
- colour or odour of stool
- Rare allergic or hypersensitivity reactions (rash
- pruritus)
Precautions
- Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to chymotrypsin or any excipient
- Contraindicated in severe hepatic impairment
- coagulation disorders or in patients on anticoagulant therapy (risk of bleeding)
- Use with caution in patients with peptic ulcer disease
- Pregnancy and lactation: use only if considered essential by the physician
- Keep out of the reach of children
