Diamide 5mg/500mg

Indication

Treatment of type 2 (non-insulin dependent) diabetes mellitus in adults whose blood glucose cannot be controlled by diet, exercise, and monotherapy with either metformin or a sulfonylurea.

Ingredients

• Glibenclamide 5mg
• Metformin Hydrochloride 500mg

Direction

Oral use. Initial dose: 1 tablet once or twice daily with meals. Dose adjusted according to blood glucose response. Maximum daily dose as advised by doctor.

Side effects

• Hypoglycaemia
• Gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea
• vomiting
• diarrhoea)
• Metallic taste
• Lactic acidosis (rare but serious)
• Weight gain
• Skin rash

Precautions

• Contraindicated in renal impairment
• Contraindicated in hepatic impairment
• Avoid in pregnancy and breastfeeding
• Risk of hypoglycaemia
• take with meals
• Discontinue before contrast media administration and major surgery
