Indication
Lipid regulating agent used as an adjunct to diet to reduce elevated total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, apolipoprotein B, and triglycerides, and to increase HDL-cholesterol in patients with primary hypercholesterolaemia and mixed dyslipidaemia.
Ingredients
- Atorvastatin 20 mg
Direction
Usual starting dose is 10 mg once daily. Dose may be adjusted at intervals of 4 weeks or more. Maximum dose 80 mg once daily. Take with or without food, as directed by the physician.
Side effects
- Headache
- Muscle pain
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
- Constipation
- Elevated liver enzymes
Precautions
- Contraindicated in active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevations of serum transaminases.
- Avoid in pregnancy and breastfeeding.
- Use with caution in patients with risk factors for myopathy.
- Limit alcohol consumption.
