Yasmin Drospirenone 3 mg / Ethinylestradiol 0.030 mg per tablet

Indication

Combined oral contraceptive pill for the prevention of pregnancy.

Ingredients

• Drospirenone 3 mg
• Ethinylestradiol 0.030 mg

Direction

Take one tablet orally once daily for 21 consecutive days, followed by a 7-day tablet-free interval. Refer to enclosed leaflet for further information.

Side effects

• Irregular menstrual bleeding or spotting
• particularly in the first months.
• Nausea
• vomiting
• headache.
• Breast tenderness.
• Mood changes
• decreased libido
• depression.
• Weight changes.
• Increased risk of venous thromboembolism (blood clots).
• Elevated blood pressure.
• Fluid retention.
• Hyperkalaemia (elevated potassium) due to antimineralocorticoid effect of drospirenone — monitor in patients on potassium
• sparing drugs.
• Risk of arterial events (stroke
• myocardial infarction) — especially in smokers over 35.
