Indication
Treatment of hyperuricemia and its clinical complications (gout, uric acid nephropathy)
Ingredients
- Allopurinol
Direction
Swallow the tablets whole with a large glass of water after meals
Side effects
- Nausea
- diarrhoea
- vomiting.
- Skin rash
- pruritus.
- Elevated liver enzymes (hepatotoxicity — rare but serious
- monitor LFTs).
- Acute gout flare on initiation of therapy.
- Bone marrow suppression (agranulocytosis
- aplastic anaemia) — rare.
- Allergic hypersensitivity syndrome (Stevens
- Johnson syndrome
- toxic epidermal necrolysis) — rare but serious.
- Renal impairment with high doses.
Precautions
- Keep out of reach of children
- read the leaflet before use
- this medicine must be taken under medical supervision
