Indication
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain, inflammation, and stiffness associated with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and other inflammatory joint conditions.
Ingredients
- Meloxicam
Direction
Adults: 7.5 mg once daily, taken orally with water, preferably at the same time each day. Maximum dose: 15 mg once daily. Take with food to reduce gastrointestinal irritation. Do not exceed recommended dose.
Side effects
- Gastrointestinal: nausea
- dyspepsia
- abdominal pain
- diarrhea
- constipation.
- Central nervous system: headache
- dizziness.
- Skin: pruritus
- rash.
- Rarely: gastrointestinal ulceration or bleeding
- elevated liver enzymes.
- Rarely: serious cardiovascular events (myocardial infarction
- stroke) with long
- term use.
- Fluid retention and edema.
Precautions
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to meloxicam or other NSAIDs.
- Contraindicated in patients with active peptic ulcer disease or gastrointestinal bleeding.
- Contraindicated in severe hepatic or renal impairment.
- Contraindicated in the third trimester of pregnancy.
- Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease
- NSAIDs may increase risk of serious cardiovascular events.
- Avoid concomitant use with other NSAIDs
- anticoagulants
- or corticosteroids.
- May mask signs of infection.
- Not recommended for use in children under 15 years for osteoarthritis/rheumatoid arthritis indications.
