Almex 200 mg / 5 ml

Indication

Anthelmintic suspension for treatment of intestinal worm infections; use as directed by the physician. Do not use during pregnancy.

Ingredients

• Albendazole

Direction

Adults and children over 2 years (over 10 kg): 400 mg (10 mL of 200 mg/5 mL suspension) as a single oral dose for common intestinal helminths. Shake well before use. Take with or after food. May repeat after 2–4 weeks if required.

Side effects

• Gastrointestinal: nausea
• vomiting
• abdominal pain.
• Central nervous system: headache
• dizziness.
• Elevated liver enzymes.
• Reversible alopecia with prolonged use.
• Rare: bone marrow suppression
• allergic reactions.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to albendazole or benzimidazoles.
• Contraindicated in pregnancy (teratogenic)
• ensure effective contraception during use.
• Women of childbearing age should perform a pregnancy test before treatment.
• Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment
• monitor liver enzymes.
• Monitor blood counts during prolonged therapy.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Discard unused suspension as directed on label.
