Indication
Anthelmintic for the treatment of taeniasis (tapeworm infection). Use as directed by the physician.
Ingredients
- Niclosamide
Direction
Tapeworm infection (Taenia solium, Taenia saginata, Diphyllobothrium latum): Adults and children over 2 years: 2 g (4 × 500 mg tablets) as a single dose, or in two divided doses of 1 g with a 1-hour interval. Chew tablets thoroughly or crush and suspend in water. Take on an empty stomach. A laxative may be given 2 hours after the dose.
Side effects
- Gastrointestinal: nausea
- vomiting
- abdominal discomfort
- diarrhea (usually mild and transient).
- Dizziness
- drowsiness.
- Rare: skin rash
- pruritus.
- Rare: fever.
Precautions
- Contraindicated in known hypersensitivity to niclosamide.
- Not recommended during pregnancy unless clearly necessary
- consult a doctor.
- Avoid alcohol on the day of treatment.
- Ensure adequate hydration.
- Tablets must be chewed thoroughly and washed down with water.
- Treat all household members as appropriate.
- Keep out of reach of children.
