Clofenac SR 100 mg

Indication

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used for the relief of pain and inflammation in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, musculoskeletal disorders, acute gout, and post-operative pain.

Ingredients

• Diclofenac sodium 100 mg

Direction

Adults: 1 tablet (100 mg) once daily, swallowed whole (do not crush or chew), preferably at the same time each day. Take with or after food. Do not exceed 100 mg per day for the sustained-release formulation.

Side effects

• Gastrointestinal: nausea
• dyspepsia
• abdominal pain
• diarrhea
• constipation.
• Headache
• dizziness.
• Elevated liver enzymes
• rare hepatotoxicity.
• Fluid retention
• oedema.
• Serious: gastrointestinal ulceration
• bleeding
• cardiovascular events.
• Rare: renal impairment
• skin reactions.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in known hypersensitivity to diclofenac or other NSAIDs.
• Contraindicated in active gastrointestinal ulcer or bleeding.
• Contraindicated in severe hepatic
• renal
• or cardiac failure.
• Contraindicated in the third trimester of pregnancy.
• Increases risk of serious cardiovascular events (myocardial infarction
• stroke) especially with prolonged use or in high
• risk patients.
• Use with caution in patients with a history of peptic ulcer
• hypertension
• or anticoagulant therapy.
• Avoid concomitant use with other NSAIDs or aspirin.
• Keep out of reach of children.
