Nautamine

Indication

Prevention and treatment of motion sickness (mal des transports) in adults and children over 2 years of age.

Ingredients

• Diphenhydramine (as di(acefylline) diphenhydramine)

Direction

Adults and children over 15 years: 25–50 mg (as diphenhydramine base equivalent) 30 minutes before travel or as directed by a doctor; may repeat every 4–6 hours. Do not exceed 4 doses in 24 hours. For insomnia: 25–50 mg at bedtime.

Side effects

• Sedation
• drowsiness
• dizziness (very common).
• Dry mouth
• blurred vision
• urinary retention.
• Gastrointestinal: nausea
• vomiting.
• Paradoxical excitation
• especially in children.
• Rare: cardiovascular effects (palpitations).
• Rare: hypersensitivity reactions.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in children under 2 years.
• Use with extreme caution in children 2–6 years
• paediatric use should be supervised by a doctor.
• Contraindicated in patients with closed
• angle glaucoma
• urinary retention
• or prostatic hypertrophy.
• Causes sedation
• do not drive or operate machinery after taking.
• Avoid concomitant use with alcohol
• sedatives
• or other CNS depressants.
• Use with caution in elderly patients (higher risk of confusion
• falls).
• Consult a doctor before use in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
• Keep out of reach of children.
