Indication
Prevention and treatment of motion sickness (mal des transports) in adults and children over 2 years of age.
Ingredients
- Diphenhydramine (as di(acefylline) diphenhydramine)
Direction
Adults and children over 15 years: 25–50 mg (as diphenhydramine base equivalent) 30 minutes before travel or as directed by a doctor; may repeat every 4–6 hours. Do not exceed 4 doses in 24 hours. For insomnia: 25–50 mg at bedtime.
Side effects
- Sedation
- drowsiness
- dizziness (very common).
- Dry mouth
- blurred vision
- urinary retention.
- Gastrointestinal: nausea
- vomiting.
- Paradoxical excitation
- especially in children.
- Rare: cardiovascular effects (palpitations).
- Rare: hypersensitivity reactions.
Precautions
- Contraindicated in children under 2 years.
- Use with extreme caution in children 2–6 years
- paediatric use should be supervised by a doctor.
- Contraindicated in patients with closed
- angle glaucoma
- urinary retention
- or prostatic hypertrophy.
- Causes sedation
- do not drive or operate machinery after taking.
- Avoid concomitant use with alcohol
- sedatives
- or other CNS depressants.
- Use with caution in elderly patients (higher risk of confusion
- falls).
- Consult a doctor before use in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Keep out of reach of children.
