Indication
Triple therapy kit for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection associated with peptic ulcer disease and chronic gastritis. Contains one day of therapy: 2 esomeprazole capsules, 2 clarithromycin tablets, and 2 tinidazole tablets.
Ingredients
- Esomeprazole 40 mg
- Clarithromycin 250 mg
- Tinidazole 500 mg
Direction
For one day of therapy. Take as directed by the physician. Read enclosed leaflet carefully before use.
Side effects
- Common: nausea
- diarrhea
- abdominal pain
- headache
- metallic taste (tinidazole/clarithromycin).
- Less common: dizziness
- vomiting
- altered taste
- flatulence.
- Clarithromycin: QT prolongation
- hearing disturbances (rare)
- hepatitis (rare).
- Tinidazole: peripheral neuropathy (rare)
- dark
- colored urine.
- Esomeprazole: constipation
- dry mouth
- elevated liver enzymes.
Precautions
- Not recommended in patients hypersensitive to esomeprazole
- clarithromycin
- tinidazole
- or any macrolide antibiotic.
- Clarithromycin contraindicated with QT
- prolonging agents
- ergot alkaloids
- certain statins (simvastatin
- lovastatin)
- and colchicine.
- Tinidazole contraindicated in first trimester of pregnancy and in nursing mothers.
- Avoid alcohol consumption during treatment with tinidazole and for at least 3 days after completion.
- Monitor hepatic function
- clarithromycin and tinidazole may cause liver enzyme elevations.
- Long
- term PPI use associated with hypomagnesaemia and vitamin B12 deficiency.
- Tinidazole may cause peripheral neuropathy with prolonged use
- discontinue if neurological symptoms occur.
- Keep out of reach of children.
