Zyloric 200 mg

Indication

Zyloric (allopurinol) is indicated for the treatment of chronic gout and hyperuricaemia, including hyperuricaemia secondary to chemotherapy or other disorders of urate overproduction. It is also used to prevent recurrent uric acid renal stones and mixed calcium oxalate stones associated with hyperuricosuria.

Ingredients

• Allopurinol 200 mg

Direction

Oral use. Take tablets after meals with a large glass of water. Follow the dose prescribed by the physician.

Side effects

• Skin rash (may be severe
• including Stevens
• Johnson syndrome)
• Nausea and vomiting
• Diarrhoea
• Headache
• Elevated liver enzymes
• Hypersensitivity reactions

Precautions

• Stop treatment immediately at the first sign of skin rash or hypersensitivity
• Contains lactose
• not suitable for patients with galactose intolerance
• Not to be used in pregnancy except when no safer alternative is available
• Use with caution and dose adjustment in renal or hepatic impairment
• Prescription only medicine
