Indication
Proton pump inhibitor used to reduce gastric acid secretion. Indicated for gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD), Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and as part of H. pylori eradication therapy.
Ingredients
- Rabeprazole Sodium 20 mg
Direction
As directed by Registered Physicians. Please see the enclosed leaflet for more information.
Side effects
- Common: headache
- diarrhea
- nausea
- abdominal pain
- constipation
- flatulence.
- Less common: dizziness
- dry mouth
- rash
- elevated liver enzymes.
- Rare: hypomagnesaemia with prolonged use
- Clostridioides difficile
- associated diarrhea.
- Very rare: severe skin reactions (Stevens
- Johnson syndrome)
- interstitial nephritis.
Precautions
- Not recommended in patients with known hypersensitivity to rabeprazole or other proton pump inhibitors.
- Exclude gastric malignancy before starting treatment
- rabeprazole may mask symptoms.
- Long
- term use may cause hypomagnesaemia and vitamin B12 deficiency
- periodic monitoring advised.
- Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
- May reduce absorption of pH
- dependent drugs (ketoconazole
- itraconazole
- atazanavir).
- May interact with warfarin
- monitor INR during co
- administration.
- Keep out of reach of children.
