Lasilix 40 mg

Indication

Lasilix (furosemide) is a loop diuretic indicated for the treatment of oedema associated with congestive heart failure, hepatic cirrhosis, and renal disease, including the nephrotic syndrome. It is also used, alone or in combination with other antihypertensives, for the treatment of hypertension.

Ingredients

• Furosemide 40 mg

Direction

Oral use. Take as directed by the physician, usually once daily in the morning to avoid nocturia. Scored tablets may be divided to adjust the dose. Read the package insert carefully before use.

Side effects

• Increased urination
• Dehydration and electrolyte imbalance (hypokalaemia
• hyponatraemia)
• Hypotension and dizziness
• Hyperuricaemia and gout exacerbation
• Hyperglycaemia
• Ototoxicity with high intravenous doses

Precautions

• Monitor fluid balance
• electrolytes
• renal function
• and blood pressure during treatment
• Use with caution in patients with prostatic enlargement or urinary retention
• Use with caution in elderly patients and in diabetes or gout
• Not recommended during pregnancy unless clearly necessary
