Indication
Prebiotic laxative for constipation and when soft stool is considered of medical benefit (haemorrhoids, post colonic or anal surgery). Also used for treatment and prevention of hepatic encephalopathy.
Ingredients
- Lactulose 667 mg/mL
Direction
Adults and adolescents: starting dose 15 to 45 mL daily, maintenance 15 to 30 mL daily. Children 7 to 14 years: 15 mL starting, 10 to 15 mL maintenance. Children 1 to 6 years: 5 to 10 mL. Infants under 1 year: up to 5 mL.
Side effects
- Flatulence
- especially during the first few days of treatment
- Abdominal pain
- Diarrhoea at high doses
- Nausea
Precautions
- Read package insert before use
- Do not store above 30 degrees Celsius
- Keep out of reach of children
- Consult a doctor if symptoms persist
