Indication
- Herpes labialis (cold sores) on the lips and face - Recurrent herpes simplex skin infections - Genital herpes simplex (initial and recurrent episodes)
Ingredients
- Aciclovir 5% w/w
Direction
Apply a thin layer to the affected area 5 times daily at about 4-hour intervals for 5 days, starting as early as possible. Wash hands before and after use.
Side effects
- Transient burning or stinging at the application site
- Mild dryness or flaking of the skin
- Itching or redness
- Rarely
- contact dermatitis or hypersensitivity
Precautions
- For external use only
- avoid eyes
- mouth and inside the nose
- Not for treatment of herpes in the eyes
- Avoid in known hypersensitivity to aciclovir or valaciclovir
- Use only on the skin and lips
- not on mucous membranes
