Indication
- Productive (loose) cough with excessive viscous mucus - Acute bronchitis and bronchopulmonary disease - Congestion of bronchial secretions
Ingredients
- Carbocisteine 250 mg/5 mL
Direction
Adults: 15 mL three times daily, taken by mouth. Reduce dose once a satisfactory response is achieved.
Side effects
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
- Gastric pain (gastralgia)
- Rarely
- gastrointestinal bleeding or skin rash
Precautions
- Avoid in active peptic ulcer disease
- Use with caution in patients with a history of peptic ulceration
- Do not combine with antitussives (cough suppressants) that prevent expectoration
