Indication

- Uncomplicated urinary tract infections - Otitis media - Pharyngitis and tonsillitis - Acute bronchitis and exacerbations of chronic bronchitis

Ingredients

• Cefixime 100 mg/5 mL

Direction

Children: usually 8 mg/kg/day as a single dose or in two divided doses; reconstitute the powder with water and shake well before each use. Use as prescribed by a physician.

Side effects

• Diarrhea and abdominal pain
• Nausea
• Skin rash
• Headache

Precautions

• Contraindicated in patients with cephalosporin allergy
• use caution with penicillin allergy
• Use with caution in renal impairment (dose adjustment may be needed)
• Prolonged use may cause antibiotic
• associated diarrhea (C. difficile)
