Indication
- Uncomplicated urinary tract infections - Otitis media - Pharyngitis and tonsillitis - Acute bronchitis and exacerbations of chronic bronchitis
Ingredients
- Cefixime 100 mg/5 mL
Direction
Children: usually 8 mg/kg/day as a single dose or in two divided doses; reconstitute the powder with water and shake well before each use. Use as prescribed by a physician.
Side effects
- Diarrhea and abdominal pain
- Nausea
- Skin rash
- Headache
Precautions
- Contraindicated in patients with cephalosporin allergy
- use caution with penicillin allergy
- Use with caution in renal impairment (dose adjustment may be needed)
- Prolonged use may cause antibiotic
- associated diarrhea (C. difficile)
- Complete the full prescribed course
