Indication
- Respiratory tract infections (bronchitis, pneumonia) - Ear, nose and throat infections (otitis media, pharyngitis, tonsillitis) - Urinary tract infections - Uncomplicated gonorrhoea
Ingredients
- Cefixime 200 mg/5 mL
Direction
Usual dose is 8 mg/kg/day given once daily or in two divided doses; shake the suspension well before use and complete the full prescribed course.
Side effects
- Diarrhoea
- nausea
- abdominal pain
- Headache and dizziness
- Skin rash
- Rarely
- allergic reactions
Precautions
- Avoid in patients with known allergy to cephalosporins or penicillins
- Use with caution in renal impairment
- Prolonged use may cause superinfection or antibiotic
- associated diarrhoea
