Indication
- Treatment of acute gout flares - Prevention of gout attacks - Familial Mediterranean fever - Behçet's disease
Ingredients
- Colchicine 1 mg
Direction
For an acute gout flare, typically 1 mg then 0.5 mg one hour later, then as directed; do not exceed prescribed dose. Take exactly as directed by a doctor.
Side effects
- Diarrhea
- nausea
- vomiting
- Abdominal pain
- Muscle weakness
- Low blood cell counts (with prolonged use)
Precautions
- Narrow safety margin
- overdose can be fatal
- Reduce dose in kidney or liver impairment
- Avoid grapefruit juice and strong CYP3A4/P
- gp inhibitors
- Use caution with statins (risk of muscle damage)
