Indication

- Treatment of acute gout flares - Prevention of gout attacks - Familial Mediterranean fever - Behçet's disease

Ingredients

• Colchicine 1 mg

Direction

For an acute gout flare, typically 1 mg then 0.5 mg one hour later, then as directed; do not exceed prescribed dose. Take exactly as directed by a doctor.

Side effects

• Diarrhea
• nausea
• vomiting
• Abdominal pain
• Muscle weakness
• Low blood cell counts (with prolonged use)

Precautions

• Narrow safety margin
• overdose can be fatal
• Reduce dose in kidney or liver impairment
• Avoid grapefruit juice and strong CYP3A4/P
• gp inhibitors
• Use caution with statins (risk of muscle damage)
