AMBES-10 10 mg

Indication

Used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and angina (chest pain). By relaxing blood vessels, it helps the heart pump blood more easily and reduces the frequency of angina attacks.

Ingredients

• Amlodipine Besylate

Direction

Adults: Usual starting dose is 5 mg once daily, which may be increased to a maximum of 10 mg once daily. Take with or without food. Swallow whole with water.

Side effects

• Very common: oedema (swelling of ankles/feet).
• Common: headache
• flushing
• dizziness
• palpitations
• fatigue
• nausea
• abdominal pain.
• Uncommon: hypotension
• dyspnoea
• rhinitis
• mood changes
• insomnia.
• Rare: gingival hyperplasia
• gynaecomastia
• peripheral neuropathy.
• Very rare: hepatitis
• jaundice
• severe skin reactions (Stevens
• Johnson syndrome).

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to amlodipine or other dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers.
• Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment — consider lower starting dose.
• May cause excessive hypotension
• especially in patients with severe aortic stenosis.
• Worsening angina or acute myocardial infarction may occur when starting or increasing dose in rare cases.
• Inform your doctor of all other medications
• especially other antihypertensives
• CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g.
• ketoconazole
• ritonavir)
• and simvastatin (dose of simvastatin should not exceed 20 mg).
• Use with caution in pregnancy
• consult a doctor before use.
• Keep out of reach of children.
