AMBES-5 5 mg

Indication

Used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and angina (chest pain). By relaxing blood vessels, it helps the heart pump blood more easily and reduces the frequency of angina attacks.

Ingredients

• Amlodipine Besylate

Direction

Adults: Usual starting dose is 5 mg once daily, which may be increased to a maximum of 10 mg once daily after 7–14 days. Take with or without food. Swallow whole with water.

Side effects

• Very common: oedema (swelling of ankles/feet).
• Common: headache
• flushing
• dizziness
• palpitations
• fatigue
• nausea
• abdominal pain.
• Uncommon: hypotension
• dyspnoea
• mood changes
• insomnia.
• Rare: gingival hyperplasia
• gynaecomastia.
• Very rare: severe skin reactions (Stevens
• Johnson syndrome)
• hepatitis.

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to amlodipine or other dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers.
• Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
• May cause excessive hypotension in patients with severe aortic stenosis.
• Inform your doctor of all medications
• especially CYP3A4 inhibitors and simvastatin.
• Use with caution in pregnancy
• consult a doctor.
• Keep out of reach of children.
