Indication

Aracaf (Guaifenesin) is an expectorant used to relieve chest congestion associated with the common cold, bronchitis, and other respiratory conditions. It works by thinning and loosening mucus in the airways, making coughs more productive.

Ingredients

Direction

Adults and children over 12 years: 10 ml (200 mg) every 4–6 hours as needed. Do not exceed 4 doses in 24 hours. Children 6–12 years: 5 ml every 4–6 hours. Children 2–6 years: 2.5 ml every 4 hours. Drink plenty of fluids to help loosen mucus.

Side effects

• Nausea
• vomiting
• stomach discomfort — uncommon.
• Dizziness
• headache — uncommon.
• Diarrhoea — uncommon.
• Allergic reactions — rare.

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to guaifenesin.
• Consult a doctor before use if cough is accompanied by fever
• rash
• or persistent headache.
• Do not use for chronic cough due to smoking
• asthma
• or emphysema without medical advice.
• Drink adequate fluids during treatment.
• Consult a doctor before use in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
• Keep out of reach of children.
