Indication
Beta-K Tab (Betamethasone 0.25 mg + Dexchlorpheniramine Maleate 2 mg) is a combination corticosteroid and antihistamine tablet used to treat allergic conditions including allergic rhinitis, urticaria, allergic dermatitis, insect bite reactions, and other hypersensitivity conditions requiring both anti-inflammatory and antihistamine effects.
Ingredients
- Betamethasone
- Dexchlorpheniramine Maleate
Direction
Adults: 1 tablet 2–3 times daily, or as directed by a physician. Do not exceed the prescribed dose. Do not abruptly discontinue corticosteroid-containing products without medical advice after prolonged use.
Side effects
- Sedation
- drowsiness — common (antihistamine effect).
- Dry mouth
- blurred vision — common.
- Increased appetite
- weight gain with prolonged corticosteroid use.
- Blood glucose elevation — with corticosteroid use.
- Immunosuppression
- increased susceptibility to infection with long
- term use.
- Adrenal suppression with prolonged high
- dose use.
Precautions
- Do not use if allergic to betamethasone
- dexchlorpheniramine
- or corticosteroids/antihistamines.
- Long
- term use of corticosteroids can cause adrenal suppression
- Cushing's syndrome
- osteoporosis
- and increased risk of infection.
- Use with caution in patients with diabetes
- hypertension
- peptic ulcer
- or systemic infection.
- Corticosteroids can mask signs of infection.
- Causes sedation — do not drive or operate machinery.
- Avoid alcohol during treatment.
- Do not use in patients with fungal infections without antifungal cover.
- Consult a doctor before use in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Keep out of reach of children.
