Bioflor 250 250mg

Indication

Bioflor 250 (Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-745) is a probiotic yeast used to prevent and treat diarrhoea including acute infectious diarrhoea, traveller's diarrhoea, diarrhoea associated with antibiotic use, and recurrent Clostridioides difficile infection. It helps restore the normal intestinal flora.

Direction

Adults: 1 capsule (250 mg) 2–4 times daily. Children: 1 capsule 1–2 times daily or as directed by a physician. Capsules may be opened and the contents mixed with a cool beverage or food (not hot, as heat destroys the yeast). Continue for the duration of antibiotic treatment plus 3–7 days after.

Side effects

• Flatulence
• bloating — uncommon.
• Thirst — uncommon.
• Fungaemia in severely immunocompromised patients — very rare.

Precautions

• Use with caution in immunocompromised patients (risk of fungaemia
• though very rare).
• Do not use in patients with a central venous catheter without medical advice.
• Keep away from antifungal medications (reduces efficacy).
• If opening capsules
• avoid spilling on surfaces to prevent environmental contamination.
• Consult a doctor if diarrhoea persists beyond 2 days or is accompanied by fever and blood.
• Keep out of reach of children.
