Atenolol Denk 50 50 mg

Indication

Atenolol Denk 50 (Atenolol 50 mg) is a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic blocker used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure), angina pectoris (chest pain), and certain arrhythmias (irregular heartbeat). It may also be used following myocardial infarction (heart attack) to improve survival.

Direction

Adults: For hypertension and angina: 50–100 mg once daily. For arrhythmias: 50–100 mg once daily. For post-MI: 50 mg twice daily or 100 mg once daily. Dose reduction required in renal impairment. Take at the same time each day, with or without food.

Side effects

• Bradycardia
• fatigue
• dizziness — common.
• Cold extremities — common.
• Nausea
• diarrhoea — uncommon.
• Sleep disturbances
• depression — uncommon.
• Bronchospasm in susceptible patients — uncommon.
• Raynaud's phenomenon — rare.

Precautions

• Do not use in cardiogenic shock
• uncompensated heart failure
• sick sinus syndrome (without pacemaker)
• second
• or third
• degree AV block
• or severe bradycardia.
• Do not abruptly discontinue — taper gradually.
• Use with caution in asthma or COPD — may cause bronchoconstriction.
• Dose reduction required in renal impairment.
• May mask signs of hypoglycaemia in diabetic patients.
• Caution with concurrent use of calcium channel blockers
• antiarrhythmics.
• Keep out of reach of children.
