CoLosar-Denk 50/12.5 mg

Indication

CoLosar-Denk (Losartan Potassium 50 mg + Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg) is a combination antihypertensive used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by losartan or hydrochlorothiazide alone. Losartan is an ARB; hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic.

Ingredients

• losartan potassium
• hydrochlorothiazide

Direction

Adults: One tablet once daily, with or without food. May be increased to Losartan 100 mg / HCTZ 25 mg once daily if needed. Take at the same time each day.

Side effects

• Dizziness
• hypotension — common.
• Hypokalaemia (low potassium) — common (HCTZ effect).
• Elevated uric acid
• gout — uncommon.
• Electrolyte disturbances — uncommon.
• Renal impairment — uncommon.
• Angioedema — rare.
• Photosensitivity reactions — rare.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in pregnancy (ARBs cause fetal harm in second and third trimesters).
• Do not use if allergic to losartan
• sulfonamide derivatives (HCTZ contains sulfonamide moiety)
• or any component.
• Do not use concurrently with aliskiren in diabetic patients.
• Monitor renal function
• serum potassium
• and sodium levels.
• Hydrochlorothiazide may cause hypokalaemia
• hyponatraemia
• and gout.
• Use with caution in patients with hepatic or severe renal impairment.
• May cause photosensitivity.
• Keep out of reach of children.
