Candid-V3 200 mg

Indication

Candid-V3 (Clotrimazole 200 mg vaginal pessary) is an antifungal used for a 3-day course of treatment of vaginal candidiasis (thrush). Clotrimazole inhibits the growth of Candida fungi by disrupting cell membrane synthesis.

Direction

Insert one pessary (200 mg) high into the vagina at bedtime for 3 consecutive nights, using the applicator provided. Wash hands before and after use. Treatment should be used even during menstruation if needed. Avoid sexual intercourse during treatment or use a barrier method (note that clotrimazole may damage latex condoms/diaphragms).

Side effects

• Local irritation
• burning
• or itching after insertion — uncommon.
• Pelvic discomfort or cramping — uncommon.
• Allergic reactions — rare.

Precautions

• For vaginal use only.
• Do not use if allergic to clotrimazole or other imidazole antifungals.
• Confirm diagnosis before treatment — not all vaginal symptoms are caused by Candida.
• Seek medical advice if symptoms do not resolve after 3 days
• if this is the first episode
• or if symptoms recur frequently.
• Avoid use in girls under 16 years without medical advice.
• Clotrimazole can weaken latex condoms and diaphragms.
• Consult a doctor before use in pregnancy.
• Keep out of reach of children.
