Indication

Coversyl 5 mg is an ACE inhibitor used for the treatment of essential hypertension, symptomatic heart failure, and stable coronary artery disease (to reduce risk of cardiac events in patients with a history of myocardial infarction or coronary revascularisation).

Ingredients
  • perindopril arginine
Direction

Hypertension (adults): Initially 5 mg once daily in the morning; may increase to 10 mg once daily after 1 month if tolerated. Heart failure: Initially 2.5 mg once daily; titrated up to 5 mg. Take before food.

Side effects
  • Dry persistent cough.
  • Headache and dizziness.
  • Hypotension.
  • Hyperkalaemia.
  • Impaired renal function.
  • Rare: angioedema (potentially life
  • threatening — discontinue immediately).
Precautions
  • Contraindicated in patients with history of ACE inhibitor
  • induced angioedema.
  • Contraindicated during second and third trimester of pregnancy.
  • Contraindicated with aliskiren in patients with diabetes or renal impairment.
  • May cause first
  • dose hypotension especially in volume
  • depleted patients.
  • Monitor renal function and potassium
  • especially with concomitant diuretics.
  • Dry cough is a class effect — consider switching to ARB if intolerable.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
