Indication
Used to relieve pain and inflammation in conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and acute pain including post-surgical pain.
Ingredients
- Celecoxib
Direction
Adults: For osteoarthritis, 200 mg once daily or 100 mg twice daily. For rheumatoid arthritis, 100–200 mg twice daily. For acute pain, 400 mg initially, then 200 mg as needed. Take with food if stomach upset occurs. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration.
Side effects
- Common: abdominal pain
- diarrhea
- dyspepsia
- nausea.
- Cardiovascular: hypertension
- edema.
- CNS: headache
- dizziness.
- Rare: serious skin reactions (Stevens
- Johnson syndrome).
- Rare: hepatotoxicity
- renal impairment.
Precautions
- Contraindicated in patients with sulfonamide allergy.
- Contraindicated in patients who have experienced asthma
- urticaria
- or allergic reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs.
- Avoid in patients with active peptic ulcer disease.
- Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease
- NSAIDs may increase risk of serious cardiovascular thrombotic events.
- Avoid use in the third trimester of pregnancy.
- Not recommended in patients with severe hepatic or renal impairment.
- May increase risk of gastrointestinal bleeding.
- Keep out of reach of children.
