Clinovir Cream 5%

Indication

Used for the treatment of herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections of the skin and lips (cold sores), and for herpes labialis.

Ingredients

• Acyclovir

Direction

Adults and children over 12 years: Apply a thin layer to the affected area 5 times daily (every 4 hours while awake) for 5 days. Begin treatment as early as possible at the first sign of infection. Wash hands before and after application. Avoid contact with eyes.

Side effects

• Common: transient burning or stinging sensation on application.
• Uncommon: drying
• flaking
• or itching at the application site.
• Rare: contact dermatitis
• allergic reactions.

Precautions

• For external (topical) use only.
• Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
• Not suitable for application to mucous membranes (genital herpes).
• Do not use on normal or healthy skin.
• Consult a doctor if no improvement after 5 days.
• Keep out of reach of children.
