Indication

Used to relieve symptoms associated with gastric hyperacidity such as heartburn, acid indigestion, sour stomach, and gas. Also used for peptic ulcer disease and gastroesophageal reflux.

Ingredients

• Alumina
• Magnesia
• Simethicone

Direction

Adults: Take 10–20 mL (liquid) or 1–2 tablets 1 hour after meals and at bedtime, or as directed by a physician. Chew tablets thoroughly before swallowing. Do not take more than 12 doses in 24 hours unless directed by a doctor.

Side effects

• Common: constipation (aluminium component).
• Common: diarrhea (magnesium component).
• Rare: hypermagnesemia or hyperaluminemia in renal impairment.

Precautions

• Prolonged use may cause constipation (aluminium) or diarrhea (magnesium).
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment (risk of aluminium and magnesium accumulation).
• May reduce absorption of other medications
• take other medicines 2 hours before or after antacids.
• Low phosphate diet with prolonged use may lead to phosphate depletion.
• Keep out of reach of children.
