Indication

Used as an appetite stimulant and nutritional supplement to promote weight gain in children and adults with poor appetite, underweight conditions, or nutritional deficiencies.

Ingredients

• cyproheptadine HCl
• arginine aspartate
• lysine

Direction

Adults and children: Take as directed by a physician or as indicated on the product label. Typically 1–2 teaspoons (syrup) or 1 tablet 2–3 times daily before meals.

Side effects

• Common: sedation
• drowsiness
• dry mouth.
• Common: increased appetite
• weight gain.
• Uncommon: constipation
• urinary retention.
• Rare: paradoxical excitation in children.

Precautions

• Cyproheptadine may cause drowsiness
• avoid driving or operating machinery.
• Not for use in patients with narrow
• angle glaucoma
• urinary retention
• or benign prostatic hyperplasia.
• Avoid in patients taking MAO inhibitors.
• Use with caution in elderly patients.
• Not recommended for use as a primary treatment for weight loss disorders without medical supervision.
