Codalgin Forte 500 mg / 30 mg

Indication

Used for the relief of moderate to moderately severe pain that is not adequately controlled by paracetamol or NSAIDs alone.

Ingredients

• Paracetamol
• Codeine Phosphate

Direction

Adults: 1–2 tablets every 4–6 hours as needed. Maximum 8 tablets in 24 hours. Do not take for more than 3 consecutive days. Take with water; may be taken with food to reduce gastric upset.

Side effects

• Common: constipation
• nausea
• vomiting
• drowsiness.
• Common: dizziness
• headache.
• Uncommon: respiratory depression
• pruritus.
• Rare: codeine dependence/abuse.
• Overdose: hepatotoxicity (paracetamol)
• opioid toxicity (codeine).

Precautions

• Codeine is an opioid
• risk of dependence and abuse.
• Contraindicated in patients who are ultra
• rapid CYP2D6 metabolizers.
• Contraindicated in children under 12 years for pain after tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy.
• Not recommended in children under 18 years with respiratory problems.
• Contraindicated in patients with respiratory depression or severe asthma.
• Do not exceed the recommended dose
• paracetamol overdose causes serious liver damage.
• Avoid concomitant use with alcohol or other CNS depressants.
• Avoid use during breastfeeding (risk of neonatal morphine toxicity).
• Keep out of reach of children.
