Indication
A combination topical antibiotic and corticosteroid cream used to treat skin conditions complicated by bacterial infection, such as infected eczema, infected dermatitis, and other inflammatory skin conditions with secondary bacterial infection.
Ingredients
- Gentamicin sulfate
- Betamethasone valerate
Direction
Apply a thin layer to the affected area 2–3 times daily. Wash hands before and after application. Do not use for longer than 7 days unless directed by a physician.
Side effects
- Local skin irritation
- burning
- or itching.
- Skin thinning with prolonged use.
- Possible systemic absorption with extensive application.
- Risk of sensitisation to gentamicin.
Precautions
- Do not use on the face
- groin
- or axillae unless directed by a physician.
- Avoid use near the eyes.
- Do not use on viral skin infections (e.g. herpes
- chickenpox) or fungal infections without specific treatment.
- Prolonged use may cause skin thinning and striae.
- Not recommended in children under 2 years without medical supervision.
- Do not use in pregnancy without medical advice.
