Indication

Glylax (Glycerol 62.5% w/v rectal solution) is a rectal laxative used for the short-term relief of constipation. It acts as a hyperosmotic agent that draws water into the bowel to soften stools and stimulate bowel movement.

Direction

Adults and children over 12 years: Insert one enema (20 mL) rectally. Retain for a few minutes. One dose per day or as directed by a physician. Not for prolonged use without medical advice.

Side effects

• Rectal discomfort or burning sensation.
• Abdominal cramping.
• Urgency to defecate.
• Rare: local irritation or hypersensitivity reactions.

Precautions

• For rectal use only.
• Do not use in patients with inflammatory bowel disease

• or intestinal obstruction.
• Do not use for more than 3 consecutive days without medical advice.
• Use with caution in elderly or debilitated patients.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Consult a doctor if there is no bowel movement after use.
