Omenix 20 20 mg

Indication

Omenix 20 (Omeprazole 20 mg) is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease (gastric and duodenal ulcers), eradication of Helicobacter pylori (in combination), and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

Direction

Adults: 20 mg once daily before a meal. For peptic ulcer: 20–40 mg once daily for 4–8 weeks. For GERD: 20 mg once daily for 4 weeks. For H. pylori eradication: used in combination with antibiotics as prescribed by a physician.

Side effects

• Headache.
• Nausea
• vomiting
• abdominal pain
• diarrhea
• constipation.
• Flatulence.
• Dizziness.
• Rare: hypomagnesemia
• C. difficile infection
• interstitial nephritis.
• Very rare: severe skin reactions (Stevens
• Johnson syndrome).

Precautions

• Prolonged use may increase risk of osteoporosis
• related fractures
• monitor bone density with long
• term use.
• May reduce absorption of drugs dependent on gastric pH (e.g. ketoconazole
• itraconazole).
• Long
• term use associated with hypomagnesemia
• monitor magnesium levels.
• Risk of Clostridioides difficile infection with prolonged use.
• Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
• May mask symptoms of gastric cancer
• exclude malignancy before starting treatment.
• Keep out of reach of children.
