Omeprim 20 mg

Indication

Omeprim (Omeprazole 20 mg) is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease (gastric and duodenal), eradication of Helicobacter pylori (in combination therapy), and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

Direction

Adults: 20 mg once daily before a meal. For peptic ulcer: 20–40 mg once daily for 4–8 weeks. For GERD: 20 mg once daily for 4 weeks. For H. pylori eradication: use in combination with antibiotics as prescribed.

Side effects

• Headache.
• Nausea
• vomiting
• abdominal pain
• diarrhea
• constipation.
• Flatulence.
• Dizziness.
• Rare: hypomagnesemia
• C. difficile infection
• interstitial nephritis.
• Very rare: severe skin reactions.

Precautions

• Prolonged use may increase risk of osteoporosis
• related fractures.
• May reduce absorption of drugs dependent on gastric pH.
• Long
• term use associated with hypomagnesemia.
• Risk of Clostridioides difficile infection with prolonged use.
• Use with caution in severe hepatic impairment.
• Exclude gastric malignancy before initiating treatment.
• Keep out of reach of children.
