Indication

Cetirizine is a second-generation antihistamine used to relieve symptoms of allergic rhinitis (hay fever), including runny nose, sneezing, itchy and watery eyes, and hives (urticaria).

Ingredients

• Cetirizine dihydrochloride

Direction

Adults and children over 6 years: 10 mg once daily. Children 2–6 years: 5 mg once daily (half tablet). Take with or without food. May be taken at bedtime to reduce drowsiness during the day.

Side effects

• Drowsiness (less common than first
• generation antihistamines).
• Dry mouth.
• Fatigue
• headache.
• Dizziness.
• Nausea
• abdominal pain (rare).

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment (reduce dose).
• May cause drowsiness
• exercise caution when driving or operating machinery.
• Avoid alcohol during treatment.
• Use with caution in patients with epilepsy.
• Not recommended for children under 2 years.
