Indication
Tamsulosin hydrochloride is a selective alpha-1A adrenoceptor antagonist used to treat the signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), including difficulty urinating, weak urinary stream, and urinary frequency.
Ingredients
- Tamsulosin Hydrochloride
Direction
Adults: 0.4 mg once daily taken approximately 30 minutes after the same meal each day. Swallow capsule whole; do not crush or chew. If a dose is missed, resume the next day.
Side effects
- Dizziness
- orthostatic hypotension.
- Retrograde ejaculation.
- Headache.
- Asthenia (weakness).
- Rhinitis.
- Palpitations.
- Rarely: syncope
- priapism.
Precautions
- May cause orthostatic hypotension (dizziness on standing) — especially at the start of treatment.
- Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
- Intraoperative Floppy Iris Syndrome (IFIS) has been reported during cataract surgery
- inform ophthalmologist before surgery.
- Avoid concurrent use with strong CYP3A4 or CYP2D6 inhibitors.
- Not for use in women or children.
- Monitor blood pressure
- particularly at initiation.
