Indication

Tamsulosin hydrochloride is a selective alpha-1A adrenoceptor antagonist used to treat the signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), including difficulty urinating, weak urinary stream, and urinary frequency.

Ingredients
  • Tamsulosin Hydrochloride
Direction

Adults: 0.4 mg once daily taken approximately 30 minutes after the same meal each day. Swallow capsule whole; do not crush or chew. If a dose is missed, resume the next day.

Side effects
  • Dizziness
  • orthostatic hypotension.
  • Retrograde ejaculation.
  • Headache.
  • Asthenia (weakness).
  • Rhinitis.
  • Palpitations.
  • Rarely: syncope
  • priapism.
Precautions
  • May cause orthostatic hypotension (dizziness on standing) — especially at the start of treatment.
  • Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
  • Intraoperative Floppy Iris Syndrome (IFIS) has been reported during cataract surgery
  • inform ophthalmologist before surgery.
  • Avoid concurrent use with strong CYP3A4 or CYP2D6 inhibitors.
  • Not for use in women or children.
  • Monitor blood pressure
  • particularly at initiation.
