Indication

Nasal Spray Oxymetazoline HCl PumpMist is a topical nasal decongestant used to relieve nasal congestion associated with common cold, sinusitis, hay fever, and other upper respiratory allergies. It acts on alpha-adrenergic receptors to cause vasoconstriction of the nasal mucosa.

Direction

Adults and children 6 years and over: 2–3 sprays in each nostril twice daily (morning and bedtime). Do not use for more than 3 consecutive days to avoid rebound congestion (rhinitis medicamentosa). Blow nose before use. Tilt head slightly forward and insert nozzle into nostril while sniffing.

• increased blood pressure (systemic absorption — rare)

Precautions

• Do not use for more than 3 consecutive days.
• Do not use in children under 6 years of age.
• Use with caution in patients with hypertension
• coronary artery disease
• diabetes
• hyperthyroidism
• or enlarged prostate.
• May interact with MAO inhibitors
• do not use within 14 days of MAOI therapy.
• Rebound congestion (rhinitis medicamentosa) may occur with prolonged use.
• Do not share nasal sprays between individuals (infection risk).
• Keep out of reach of children.
