Primodil 10 10 mg

Indication

Primodil 10 (Amlodipine Besilate 10 mg) is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and stable angina pectoris. It relaxes peripheral vascular smooth muscle, reducing blood pressure and cardiac workload.

Direction

Adults: 5–10 mg once daily, with or without food. The usual starting dose is 5 mg; dose may be titrated to 10 mg based on response. Swallow tablet whole.

Side effects

• Peripheral oedema (ankle and foot swelling — most common)
• Flushing
• headache
• dizziness
• Fatigue
• Palpitations
• Nausea
• abdominal pain
• Skin rash

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to amlodipine or other dihydropyridines.
• Use with caution in patients with severe aortic stenosis
• severe hepatic impairment
• or heart failure.
• May cause peripheral oedema (ankle swelling).
• Avoid abrupt discontinuation.
• Use with caution with other antihypertensives
• CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g.
• ketoconazole
• clarithromycin)
• or strong inducers.
• Avoid grapefruit juice (increases plasma levels).
• Use in pregnancy only when clearly necessary (consult physician).
• Keep out of reach of children.
