Indication

Primodil-AT (Amlodipine + Atenolol) is a fixed-dose combination antihypertensive. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker and Atenolol is a cardioselective beta-blocker. The combination is used to treat hypertension and stable angina pectoris, providing complementary mechanisms to reduce blood pressure and cardiac workload.

Ingredients
  • Amlodipine
  • Atenolol
Direction

Adults: 1 tablet once daily, with or without food, as directed by a physician. Do not stop taking abruptly, especially the atenolol component.

Side effects
  • Peripheral oedema
  • flushing (amlodipine)
  • Bradycardia
  • fatigue
  • cold extremities (atenolol)
  • Dizziness
  • headache
  • Nausea
  • Bronchospasm (atenolol — in susceptible patients)
Precautions
  • Do not stop abruptly — may precipitate angina or rebound hypertension.
  • Contraindicated in cardiogenic shock
  • sick sinus syndrome
  • second or third degree AV block
  • uncompensated heart failure
  • and severe bradycardia.
  • Use with caution in diabetic patients (atenolol may mask hypoglycaemia signs).
  • Use with caution in asthmatic or COPD patients (beta
  • blocker may worsen bronchoconstriction).
  • Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment (amlodipine).
  • May cause peripheral oedema (amlodipine).
  • Keep out of reach of children.
