Rovista 10mg

Indication

Rovista (Rosuvastatin 10 mg) is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) used to treat primary hypercholesterolaemia and mixed dyslipidaemia, and to reduce cardiovascular events in high-risk patients. It reduces LDL cholesterol, total cholesterol, and triglycerides, and raises HDL cholesterol.

• Rosuvastatin

Direction

Adults: 5–20 mg once daily at any time of day, with or without food. Starting dose is typically 5–10 mg; dose may be adjusted by a physician up to 40 mg based on response. Swallow tablet whole.

Side effects

• Muscle pain or weakness (myalgia)
• Headache
• Nausea
• constipation
• abdominal pain
• Elevated liver enzymes (transaminases)
• Proteinuria (at higher doses)
• Rhabdomyolysis (rare but serious)

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to rosuvastatin or any statin.
• Contraindicated in active liver disease
• unexplained persistent transaminase elevations
• severe renal impairment
• or myopathy.
• Contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
• Report unexplained muscle pain
• weakness
• or tenderness immediately (risk of myopathy/rhabdomyolysis).
• Use with caution with fibrates
• niacin
• cyclosporine
• or antiviral drugs (HIV/hepatitis C protease inhibitors).
• Asian patients may require lower doses due to higher plasma levels.
• Monitor liver function tests before and periodically during therapy.
• Keep out of reach of children.
