Indication

Tripgel is an antacid suspension containing a local mucosal anaesthetic (oxethazaine) combined with antacid agents (aluminium and magnesium hydroxides). It is used for the symptomatic relief of heartburn, acid indigestion, gastritis, and gastric ulcer pain, particularly when a mucosal-anaesthetic effect is needed for pain relief.

Ingredients

• Oxethazaine
• Aluminum Hydroxide
• Magnesium Hydroxide

Direction

Adults: Shake well. Take 10 mL (one tablespoon) 3–4 times daily, before meals and at bedtime, or as directed by a physician. Do not exceed the recommended dose.

Side effects

• Constipation (aluminium) or diarrhoea (magnesium).
• Nausea
• chalky taste.
• Rarely: hypermagnesaemia or hyperaluminaemia in renal impairment.

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment (accumulation of aluminium and magnesium).
• May reduce absorption of other drugs
• administer at least 2 hours apart from other medications.
• Avoid prolonged use without medical advice.
• Not recommended in children without physician guidance.
• Keep out of reach of children.
