Konimag 7ml

Indication

Konimag is a magnesium hydroxide (milk of magnesia) oral suspension used as an antacid for the symptomatic relief of heartburn, acid indigestion, and sour stomach, and as an osmotic laxative for the relief of occasional constipation.

Ingredients

• Magnesium hydroxide 390 mg per 5 mL

Direction

As antacid: Adults: 5–15 mL up to 4 times daily between meals and at bedtime. As laxative: Adults: 30–60 mL once daily at bedtime. Children: dose adjusted by age and weight; consult physician.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea (laxative doses).
• Nausea
• abdominal cramping.
• Rare: hypermagnesaemia in renal impairment (weakness
• low blood pressure).

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment
• magnesium may accumulate leading to hypermagnesaemia.
• May reduce absorption of other medications
• separate administration by at least 2 hours.
• Not for long
• term use as a laxative without medical advice.
• Avoid in patients with bowel obstruction or acute abdominal conditions.
• Keep out of reach of children.
