VOMIZET-4 4mg

Indication

Ondansetron (VOMIZET-4) is a selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and post-operative nausea and vomiting.

Ingredients

Direction

Adults: 4–8 mg up to three times daily. Children 4–11 years (post-operative): 0.1 mg/kg (max 4 mg) as a single dose. Exact dosing depends on indication; follow prescriber instructions. May be taken with or without food.

Side effects

• Common: headache
• constipation
• warm/flushing sensation.
• Uncommon: hiccups
• hypotension
• bradycardia.
• Rare: hypersensitivity reactions including anaphylaxis.
• Rare: QT interval prolongation
• arrhythmias.

Precautions

• May cause QT prolongation
• use with caution in patients with cardiac arrhythmias or electrolyte imbalances.
• Avoid concomitant use with apomorphine.
• Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment (dose reduction may be needed).
• May cause headache and constipation.
• Not recommended in children under 1 month.
• Keep out of reach of children.
