Indication

Tavon ORS is an oral rehydration salt containing Sodium Chloride, Potassium Chloride, Sodium Citrate, and Glucose. It is used to replace fluids and electrolytes lost due to diarrhoea, vomiting, or excessive sweating, preventing and treating dehydration.

Ingredients

• Sodium Chloride
• Potassium Chloride
• Sodium Citrate
• Glucose

Direction

Dissolve the entire contents of one sachet (27.9 g) in 1 litre of clean drinking water. Adults and older children: drink as much as needed to replace fluid losses. Infants and small children: administer under medical supervision using appropriate volumes per weight. Prepared solution should be used within 24 hours.

Side effects

• Generally well tolerated.
• Rare: nausea or vomiting if consumed rapidly.

Precautions

• Do not prepare with less than the specified volume of water.
• Do not add sugar or other substances to the prepared solution.
• Use with caution in patients with severe renal impairment or hypernatraemia.
• If vomiting persists or dehydration is severe
• seek medical attention.
• Discard unused prepared solution after 24 hours.
• Keep out of reach of children.
